MBFF Kicks off with that Spring Summer feeling !

Brisbane has been invaded by fashionistas from far and wide to celebrate the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival once again. Style lovers flocked to the Brisbane City Hall last night where the week’s long festivities kicked off with Myer’s Spring Summer 15 collection. The sold out show featured some of the country’s most in-demand designers and labels such as Charlie Brown, Sass & Bide, Seafolly, Cue, Arthur Galan, Gail Elliot and Alex Perry. Some of these designers even ventured out on stage to greet the audience and excite them with a taste of what to expect. Premier Campbell Newman also braved the fashion world by stepping out on stage last night and gave an opening speech about the importance of the retail sector to the Australia economy. When all was said and done the music started and the moment everyone had all been waiting for arrived. The model’s strutted the catwalk fiercely showcasing the talented designer’s works’ of art and ambassador Kris Smith was certainly an eye catcher walking the latest in menswear. Bold colours, summer florals, ball gowns and formal suits were all the rage on the cat walk and it had the crowd on the edge of the seats the whole night. Tonight will be showcasing the Monjili Jewellers Bridal Group Show with designs from George Wu, Rayner Lee, Darb Bridal Couture, Jack Sullivan Bridal and Brides Desire by Wendy Sullivan at 7:00PM. This will be followed by the Emerging Designer Group Show at 8:30PM. This will be a showcase of those up and coming labels such as Begitta, Otim Ajalia, Anna Hulm, A Jacksonian Era, Peony and Stokes Thompson Designs, just to name a few.
