Today we are talking with Tasha Marciano from WA, one of the twenty-eight. Talented and inspiring women from all walks of life who are vying for the title of Miss Universe Australia 2020.
In what has certainly been an unpredictable and unprecedented year of ups and downs we’re thrilled to bring you our ninth year of Miss Universe Australia finalist interviews.
So Tasha, why don’t you tell us about yourself?
My name is Tasha Marciano, I’m from Perth, WA, and I work full time in Radio at hit929 & mix94.5 as a Sales & Advertising Coordinator.
I absolutely love it; it’s great fun. I also have my degree in Marketing, Public Relations & Advertising. I love spending time with my family & friends. I love music, sports & art.
The Miss Universe Australia program has been on hold since earlier in the year and now making its way towards a virtual final to be held on October 28, What motivated you to enter the Miss Universe Australia Program?
I was a little hesitant to register for Miss Universe Australia in the past, mainly because I’m a Curve Model. I thought I’d give it a go this year, as I think the industry is evolving and we’re in a place where we are able to celebrate diversity.
This year has been like no other, how have you been coping so far and what’s been the biggest challenge and positive that has come out of it all?
This year has certainly been like no other. Undeniably Covid-19 has presented significant difficulties in many aspects of life. The biggest challenge for me personally is coping with uncertainty and the unknown of what’s to come. However, in challenging situations, I think it’s essential to look at the positives. Covid-19 meant I was able to spend even more quality time with my family at home, which I treasured.
It also meant I was able to experience real connectivity more so than ever with such advancing technology, specifically working from home.
With everyone bringing such an individual flair to the competition, what do you think is something that will set you apart from the other contestants?
I express my individuality in many different ways. Still, most evidently, my point of difference within the program would be that I am a size 12 Curve Model and represent body diversity. I also express my individuality with my love for my Australian/Italian culture, my passion for my career in Radio Sales & Advertising and my love for Friends, Family, Music, Art and Sports amongst many other things.
The winner of Miss Universe Australia 2020 will also receive the prestigious Minespec Parts grant worth $20,000 to spend on your education or business startup, what would you do if you received this grant? And would you say your answer has changed now during the current COVID climate?
If I were lucky enough to be the winner of Miss Universe Australia and receive the prestigious Minespec Parts grant, I would put this towards my education. My education has been and continues to be, a very important part of my growth in my career and as a person.
First thing you will do when this pandemic ends?
First thing I’ll do when I’m able to, is go Travelling!
Place you will hope to travel to next?
The place I’d love to travel to again would be Italy, where my family is from.
Have you taken up a new hobby, skill or learnt a new dish during lockdown?
I’ve taken up many new hobbies and continued some old pursuits during Covid including; boxing, learning Italian, reading, Public Speaking classes, exercising, and drawing/painting.
