Taylor Swift to perform at Melbourne Cup Carnival

This morning the Victoria Racing Club has announced ten-time Grammy Award Winning, and global superstar Taylor Swift will perform on Melbourne Cup Day

This morning the Victoria Racing Club has announced ten-time Grammy Award Winning, and global superstar Taylor Swift will perform at the Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday the 5th of November.

She’s set to perform two of her latest hits in the Mounting Yard ahead of “the race that stops the nation at Flemington Racecourse.

It will be Taylor’s only public appearance in Australia following the release of her critically-loved smash seventh studio album Lover.

The album is Australia’s highest-selling album for 2019 and achieved the highest week on sales in Australia since the release of Taylor’s previous album Reputation in 2017.

VRC Chief Executive Officer,  Neil Wilson said the Club was thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift to Flemington for Cup Day.

“Lexus Melbourne Cup Day is the most celebrated day on Australia’s major event calendar and with a reach of 1 billion people globally, it’s only fitting the VRC welcomes the world’s most celebrated star for the event,” Mr Wilson said.

“To think you can come to Flemington and watch not only the race that stops a nation but sees one of the world’s biggest, if not the biggest, entertainer perform for the cost of a general admission ticket is phenomenal. We look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift to our wonderful event in just under 54 days.”

The 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival begins with Derby Day on Saturday, November 2, followed by Cup Day on the 5th and Oaks Day on the 7th and Stakes Day on the 9th.

Update: Taylor Swift has pulled out of Melbourne Cup Performance

Michael Gudinski from Mushroom Events said, “Regrettably, Taylor is no longer able to make it to this year’s Melbourne Cup. Changes to her Asian promo schedule have made it logistically impossible for her to be here. To all of Taylor’s fans, we hope to see Taylor in Australia in 2020.”

The VRC will offer refunds for Melbourne Cup Day tickets bought from the time Taylor Swift was announced to perform at Flemington
